Beginning university, I stumbled into a relatively new field, Multimedia. Graduating with an Honours BA in Communication Studies and Multimedia, I have a diverse multidisciplinary training with a well-rounded theoretical and practical skill set. My education focused on practices and standards for web design and development, partnered with communication theory and research methods. As a trained communicator with a flair for design and the ability to code, I left McMaster University with a unique combination of skills that left me wondering where I should begin my career.
work experience
After graduation, I started as a Web Designer and Developer with Jamieson IT Incorporated. I worked with clients and the project team to build and maintain online applications and web sites. My responsibilities included web graphic design, web site and database maintenance, search engine optimization and front-end coding/integration. Gaining experience in a variety of roles at Jamieson IT helped me focus my interests and build an understanding of IT and web project management.
When I moved to Edmonton in 2008, I was hired by the City of Edmonton as the Web Coordinator for Transportation and Capital Construction. This position has challenged me to grow as a communicator and project leader. As an internal service provider, I helped clients improve their web pages by creating clear and concise web content supplemented with visual communication and interactivity. I coordinated IT initiatives, online communication strategies and usability improvements, with support from other internal service groups, to guide and achieve the departments' web goals.
In 2010, I returned to my home town, Hamilton, to etablish roots closer to my family. Presently, I work for The Weather Network, as an ad oprations coodinator. This positioned has helped further refine my attention to detail, as well as, time and relationship management skills.

I enjoy understanding and analyzing business needs to develop client-friendly solutions. I aim to continue growing as a specialist in online communication and information design.
interests
I love dance and have over 5 years experience teaching ballet, jazz, modern and tap. I continue to participate in a variety of dance, fitness and yoga classes.
